Public Relations (PR) is the art of managing and shaping the image, reputation, and communication of an organization, individual, or brand with the public, media, and other key stakeholders. The goal of PR is to foster a positive public image while building meaningful relationships with various audiences, particularly journalists.

When you read an interview with a brand founder in a magazine, that’s the work of a publicist. When a celebrity steps onto the red carpet in a stunning outfit, it’s the result of collaboration between a publicist and stylist. And when a new restaurant receives coverage across television, newspapers, websites, and magazines, it’s PR in action – through press releases, pitching, media interviews, and leveraging networks.

Publicists manage a wide range of responsibilities on a daily basis, including cultivating relationships with journalists, navigating crisis communication, organizing events, overseeing brand management, fostering influencer partnerships, creating content, and social media advisement.

At its core, PR is about carefully crafting and managing the narrative of a brand or individual, both proactively and reactively, across a diverse set of channels.
